Christian Hypnotherapy with Charles Lobo

The Christian case for hypnotherapy  →

Clinical sessions for anxiety, IBS, addictions, pain, relationships — renew your mind, transform your life.

Christian hypnotherapy is clinical work that keeps faith central. Secular therapy uses the same focused state to re-train automatic patterns — habits, alarms, cravings, how your body reacts before you even notice — but asks you to leave God outside. This work uses a Christian frame for the same job: Romans 12:2, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You stay awake and in control. No surrender of will, nothing occult.

Charles Lobo — Clinical Hypnotherapist. Diploma, Australian Academy of Hypnosis; Member, Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists. Christian practitioner offering online Christian hypnotherapy for people in Australia, the US, the UK, and South Africa.

How Christian hypnotherapy works

A focused state your brain
and your faith already know.
A practitioner's consulting room: a linen sofa and a leather chair facing each other across a low wooden table with books and a candle

When your spirit is willing, but your nervous system is stuck.

When something keeps happening even though you don't want it to — the panic spike, the morning gut-check, the craving that won't quit, the same argument with the same person — that's usually not weakness. It's an automatic pattern your brain learned under stress, and the layer it lives on is reachable.

Christian hypnotherapy works by using a focused state to reach the layer underneath willpower, where automatic alarms, habits, cravings, gut responses, pain signals, and protection habits run. You stay awake and in control. In that state, the old response can be updated with clear suggestions, Christian focus, faith, and what you desire for your own life.

If willpower, prayer, and trying harder were enough to fix this, you would have solved it by now. Here is why those patterns are still running:

  • Anxiety — a learned alarm fires at the wrong time, and the body reacts as if the threat is already here.
  • IBS — the brain-gut alarm gets stuck on high, so the gut overreacts to signals it should be able to handle.
  • Addictions — the cue → craving → reach loop runs on autopilot, and your choices are fighting a losing battle.
  • Pain — a protective alarm can keep signalling after the tissue has healed, and it can be quieted down.
  • Relationships — old protection habits fire fast: freeze, withdraw, people-please, defend, shout, or shut down.

Real change happens faster than you think. While every mind and heart is unique, here is what our clients typically experience:

  • Session 1: An immediate shift and relief as the old alarm system begins to quiet down.
  • Sessions 3–5: Deep resolution, where the old craving, panic, or trigger is happily replaced with a new, peaceful default.
  • Sessions 7+: For deeply rooted trauma or long-standing habits, we take the extra time needed to ensure total freedom.

What Clients Say

★★★★★

I had a powerful experience working with Christian hypnosis sessions with Charles. What stood out most was how he kept Jesus at the centre of everything. It never felt like just a technique — it felt spiritually grounded and aligned with my faith.

The sessions helped me begin releasing trauma in a way that felt safe, guided, and meaningful. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt supported both emotionally and spiritually. There was a strong sense of peace throughout the process, and I appreciated how Scripture and faith were naturally integrated.

If you're looking for something that combines healing with a Christ-centered approach, I would definitely recommend working with Charles.

I sought help because I was struggling with severe anxiety, and I found it to be very healing. As a believer, combining the word of God with hypnotherapy was very helpful for me. Very soothing and very relaxing.

I've been trying to cut down on drinking for years only to end up increasing this destructive habit each time I tried. Under Charles's gentle therapy I felt safe and completely under God's protection. The result has been astonishing — no desire for a drink, no yearnings, no cravings, nothing.

I decided to work with Charles after many years of struggles, and as a Christian not believing in hypnosis. But what Charles does is not like magic or evil — it is simply resetting your brain to its original functions. I have overcome life's biggest battles with his help. I am 65 and struggled for years. Now I am happy and dealing with life in the Christian manner.

Charles did fantastic work with me on my anxiety issues that were stemming from work. He really knows this healing modality very well. Hypnosis works. Hypnosis works when Charles does it!

During my second pregnancy I had an issue with my jaw. I was in a lot of pain. I could hardly open my mouth and eating was painful. I had a session with Charles. As soon as the session ended the pain was less. The pain went away soon after and has never come back.

I love Charles's influence and coaching for my teen son. He is a great mentor. My son is calmer. He seems more mature. What drew me was that he was a Christian and his coaching would reflect this. This was a huge factor for working with Charles.

Is hypnotherapy good for Christians?

A quiet room with an empty wooden armchair facing a tall window, sheer linen curtains catching warm afternoon light, and a side table holding a worn leather-bound book and a white teacup — the kind of place to sit with a hard question

A Christian can use hypnotherapy and stay right inside their faith. Christian hypnotherapy uses the natural focus God gave your mind, with Scripture, prayer, and your consent in the room. You stay awake the whole time. You see the patterns that have been running on their own, and you bring them under Christ's authority. Self-control means your mind and body come back under your own control.

Christians have looked at this for a long time and landed in the same place: what matters is how it's used and who's doing it.

  • Focus on the Family points Christians toward careful, trained, accountable clinical use.
  • Pope Pius XII allowed hypnosis in medical settings when it serves proper care and moral boundaries.
  • The American Medical Association recognised medical hypnosis in 1958 as part of trained clinical care.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

You walk into the work with power, love, and self-control already given to you. You leave with more of each — over your reactions, over the people you love, and over the patterns that have been running you.

Faith is central. Scripture, prayer, and Christian language are part of how the change happens.

You bring your whole Christian life into one room, with one practitioner. The same conversation can hold the symptom, the habit, your conscience, your prayer, the verses that matter to you, and the change you came for.

Start with a discovery call

You start with a 20-minute discovery call online. An AU$25 deposit holds your spot, refunded when the call begins. On the call we map your goals, check fit, outline a starter plan, and answer your questions. There is no hypnosis on the call.

Sessions are live online

Hypnotherapy sessions are live online, usually weekly, about an hour each. You'll need a quiet space, your camera on, and headphones if you can. That's it.

How many sessions?

Most people notice a change after the very first session. As a guide, simpler issues are often around three sessions. Deeper or longer-standing patterns — anxiety, IBS, drinking, pain, relationship reactivity — are usually 5–7. We review progress each week and stop when the goal is met.

We finish when the work is done

No subscriptions. No "forever management." We set clear goals, do the work, and finish. If you want to come back later for a refresher or a new focus, you can. But the point is not to keep you in sessions.

Fees are published

You see the price before you book. A single session is AU$250. Bundles range from AU$675 to AU$1,470, and you can see the package options below. No surprises.

Most therapy just keeps going. You pay each week, and the work goes on as long as it goes on. Here, you pay for a short course, we focus on what you came for, and when it's done, you're done. Most clients see the change they came for in five sessions or fewer; deeper patterns usually take 5–7. You're not paying just for the hour. You're paying to not need to keep paying every week to manage the same problem.

My Approach

What you can expect when working with me

Renew your mind, don't succumb to it. I use faith-aligned hypnotherapy to help you take every thought captive.

If you're going to spend time and money on this, you should know what happens in the room. You get a clear process, plain language, and a way to tell whether the thing you came for is actually changing.

What happens in a session

A Christian hypnotherapy session starts with a clear conversation about what you want changed and how it shows up in daily life. You then use focused attention, relaxed breathing, and guided imagery while you stay awake and in control. You work at the automatic layer where alarms, habits, and body responses run — then we check what has actually changed before the next session.

  • We name the pattern in plain English.
  • We look at where it shows up: body, thoughts, habits, triggers, relationships.
  • You go into hypnosis awake, aware, and in control.
  • We use suggestions and imagery that fit your life, your faith, and the change you came for.
  • We check what happens between sessions and adjust from there.

How faith integrates

Your Christian faith belongs inside the session. Scripture and prayer help you set the direction, name what needs renewing, and shape the words we use in hypnosis.

Sometimes we build the session around a verse. Sometimes prayer is where trying harder gives way to trust. Your body eases, your habits shift, and your mind gets renewed before God.

What we can expect

Most clients see the change they came for in five sessions or fewer. That can mean the craving loses its pull, the gut settles more often, the panic spike loses force, pain stops running the day, or a conversation becomes possible again. When more time is needed, we say that plainly and decide the next step together.

When you're weighing the cost, you're weighing more than the session fee. You're weighing the years spent managing the same pattern, the strain on your body, the conversations you avoid, the habits you keep circling back to, and the quiet fear that this may just be how life is now.

So you don't drift. You have a clear target, and when the change you came for has landed, we're done.

That's the point of working at the layer underneath: what changed in the room still works on the morning of the wedding, the third coffee at the meeting, or the call from your mother.

Common Questions

Is hypnotherapy a sin?

No. Clinical hypnotherapy does not ask you to hand over your will, invite spirits, or step outside Christ. You stay awake, stay in control, and can stop at any time. Christians and medical authorities have considered this carefully, including Focus on the Family, Pope Pius XII, and the American Medical Association. Read the full guide: is hypnotherapy a sin? →

Is hypnotherapy OK for Christians?

Yes. You stay awake and in control; there is no surrender of will and nothing occult. This practice is openly Christian — Scripture, prayer, and Christian language are part of how the change happens. Read the full Christian hypnotherapy guide →

What happens on the discovery call?

It is a 20-minute online call. No hypnosis. You tell me what is going on and what you want to change; I check whether the work fits and outline a starter plan. The AU$25 deposit holds your spot and is refunded the moment we begin. Full details are in What a course of sessions looks like above.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients see the change they came for in five sessions or fewer. Simpler issues are often about three sessions. Deeper or longer-standing patterns are usually five to seven. We review progress each week and finish when the goal is met — no open-ended forever work.

What does it cost?

Single sessions are from AU$250. Bundles run from AU$675 for three sessions to AU$1,470 for seven sessions. The full options are in Packages above. If cost is the barrier, tell me before scheduling; I keep a few hardship places each month.

About Charles

Clinical hypnotherapist, Christian practitioner.
Charles Lobo — outside, away from the clinic, the person behind the practice

I'm Charles Lobo — Clinical Hypnotherapist (Diploma, Australian Academy of Hypnosis; Member, ASCH — Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists) and a Christian practitioner. I work online with people in Australia, the US, the UK, and South Africa — anywhere with internet — and see local clients in Eltham, Melbourne.

Most of my work is with anxiety and depression, IBS, addictions (smoking, alcohol, vaping, porn), persistent pain, relationship patterns, and self-discipline work (study habits, finishing what you started, the thing you keep meaning to do) — the things that haven't shifted on willpower alone.

The sessions are clinical and straightforward. You stay awake, hear every word, can reject anything that does not fit, and can stop at any time. Faith is central to the work — Scripture, prayer, and Christian language are part of how the change happens.

I don't overpromise. We agree on clear aims, work in short courses, and judge progress by what changes in your day-to-day life. If I'm not the right person for what you need, I'll say so and point you to someone who is.
